Three Items to Consider for Long-Term Tiny Home Living

Starting the journey to living in your tiny home on a long-term basis means considering certain daily living aspects. You need to consider your lifestyle both indoors and outdoors. Many people find they have the indoors covered. What they don't have covered is their outdoor living comfort. If you are considering your outdoor living for long-term tiny home lifestyles, there are three items you should consider.

Blinds

You may not think of blinds being part of your outdoor living and long-term tiny home living lifestyle. The truth is the right window blinds and exterior front patio blinds can make a huge difference with how much time you will be spending outside and what outdoor temperatures you will attempt to keep out of your tiny home. Some of the blinds you may want to consider are roman shades and blinds that are fit for smaller windows as well as skylights. Roman shades are a common choice because they can easily be customised for smaller windows and can be made from a variety of fabric depending on your weather needs and interior temperature concerns.

Folding Arm Awnings

If you plan on using the front patio or deck of your tiny home for entertaining or outdoor sitting, then you may consider covering the area. You can do that with a variety of options, but one of the options many consider is a folding arm awning. This type of awning works on a spring-loaded system that can be stopped at any length. This means if you need more shade on one day or rainy day protection, you can bring the awning out to its full length. If you only need a small amount of shade, you can adjust the length that the arm is extended. Keep in mind that many of these awnings also have protective cases they can fold into that are flush to the exterior wall of the tiny home. This protects the fabric and keeps the same during travel.

Extendable Patios

A new addition to the tiny home movement is to have extendable patios. These are patio pieces that can be attached to the outside of your tiny home. You can attach them when you are parked to extend the patio area and then remove the pieces when you are travelling. This option will let you enjoy your outdoor area more and will also allow you to extend the area when you have more visitors than normal.

When you are ready to purchase your outdoor living items for long-term tiny home lifestyles, contact your local home improvement provider. They can help you with the items you want. They can also answer installation questions and other related questions to the items you have in mind. If you aren't sure what item may be ideal, consider a consultation to discuss the options available to you.

About Me

The DIY Demolition Doctor

I was always one of those enthusiastic, do-it-yourself kinds of guys even though I had received no formal training in building techniques. Over the years, I've taught myself how to build new structures and to make them look good, too. I noticed, however, that there is little advice out there about how to demolish parts of your home – essential if you want to add an extension or to start from scratch. That's what my blog is devoted to – DIY demolition jobs. I hope you'll find it a useful resource with tips about what you can do in your own home and what you ought to leave to the professionals.
