How To Use Local Weather Conditions To Select The Perfect Custom Shade Sail

There is an advertising slogan for Queensland which states it is "Beautiful one day, perfect the next". Unfortunately, when the summer storms start to roll through that is not quite an accurate statement. As someone who wants to install custom shade sails over their swimming pool this summer, it is important that you keep Queensland's fluctuating weather conditions in mind when ordering a shade sail. In particular, Queensland has three constant weather types which should be used in your decision making process:

Sunshine

When the summer storms roll away, Queensland has plenty of sunshine on offer. That is the reason why you want to install shade over your pool. Shade sails are produced in a variety of different fabrics and colours, and they also offer different levels of protection from the sun's UV rays. When choosing a shade sail for your pool, ask the company representative how much UV protection their sail offers. Look to purchase a shade sail which offers over 90% protection from ultraviolet rays, so that you can minimize the chance of sunburn while the family swims.

Rain

When the summer storms roll in, they bring with them plenty of rain. These storms can produce a lot of water in a short amount of time. Therefore, it is important that your shade sail is waterproof. Ask the company representative how long the waterproofing of the sail is designed to last, and how it can be re-waterproofed if it fails in the future. You should also remember that the sail needs to be installed in a way that the rainwater can easily run off rather than pool in the centre of the sail. Pooling water is heavy and could damage the shade sail.

Wind

Summer storms also bring with them ferocious winds. Not only does the shade sail fabric need to be thick enough to withstand the winds, but it is also important that it is always secured tight enough that the wind can't make the shade sail flap around. Discuss wind issues with the shade sail representative so that you know how to re-secure the sail if it becomes loose.

Using your local weather conditions to choose the right shade sail means that you purchase a product which perfectly suits your location and climate. Your shade sail consultant knows exactly which fabric choice works for your pool, so have a chat with them before you go ahead and make any final decisions.

About Me

The DIY Demolition Doctor

I was always one of those enthusiastic, do-it-yourself kinds of guys even though I had received no formal training in building techniques. Over the years, I've taught myself how to build new structures and to make them look good, too. I noticed, however, that there is little advice out there about how to demolish parts of your home – essential if you want to add an extension or to start from scratch. That's what my blog is devoted to – DIY demolition jobs. I hope you'll find it a useful resource with tips about what you can do in your own home and what you ought to leave to the professionals.
